The Transformative Skipper Butterfly Series.
Hello and welcome!
My name is Josanne Mark and I am thrilled that you have serendipitously stumbled upon my little space of the internet. As an artist and jewelry designer I am inspired by things both seen and unseen. So much can ignite my creative pursuits; nature, emotion, and the stories of all the incredible people I am blessed to meet. In utilizing a mix of textures and techniques, I design jewelry pieces that are unique and speak to the heart.
During the height of the COVID lockdown of 2020, my first ever fine jewelry collection took shape. Up until then, all of my fine jewelry designs were bespoke pieces, created for my amazing clients. However, in the dark and uncertain time of a global pandemic, something wonderful began to emerge as my focus shifted to the future - the Skipper Butterfly.
One day I was chatting with my beautiful friend Lyndi-Anne, who also happens to be a fantastic story teller and entrepreneur. She is the epitome of a woman with an unstoppable drive. Lyndi-Anne and I have had some incredible conversations about her fascination with butterflies, which she says, began at a very early age.
Lyndi’s eyes sparkled as she explained that as she matured, butterflies began to represent
“…beauty, color, freedom – breaking barriers & turning it into something beautiful.”
And that they show up at significant times in her life, seemingly to bring her messages of hope and helped to rekindle her faith. She said, that butterflies remind her“…to spread her wings and be free.” Isn’t that lovely?
Her excitement was infectious and my mind began to stir with images of these lively and majestic creatures. ..... she became my muse for my Skipper Butterfly Series. When Lyndi-Anne asked me to design butterfly earrings, I was so deeply moved by her motives behind the request, that it quickly developed into an entire collection. I thought this was something just too meaningful not to share with the world. Many people have their own experiences with butterflies, and I knew others would really connect with this collection.
You see, jewelry is not just about fashion for me. As a designer who is deeply inspired by the nature around us, by emotions and by the stories of others, I craft jewelry that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also holds deep intrinsic value to the person wearing it. The Skipper Butterfly Series emerged from a combination of all these things.
Butterflies are a symbol of transformation, hope, rebirth, and feminine beauty. A powerful sign of a triumphant change. At this time in history, all of these attributes are deeply meaningful and speak to the soul. Our Skipper Butterfly stud earrings have been crafted of fine gold and capture the graceful dance of a butterfly in flight.
