  • Josanne Mark|Horn Jewelry Collection | Trinidad and Tobago

Socially Conscious, casual Luxury Buffalo Horn Jewelry that combines a bit of edge with a bit of Boho Chic Buffalo Horn Jewelry About our Horn Jewelry Socially conscious, casual luxury that combines a bit of edginess with a bit of boho chic! This is the essence of our Horn Collection! We think of this collection as the embodiment of slow fashion. Artisan made pieces built upon sustainable, eco-friendly practices; Timeless, quality, wardrobe staples that can be worn time and time again, across all seasons and many occasions. Sustainability and Ethics in Design The Horns used in my designs are ethically harvested from the domestic Asian Water Buffalo. At least 130 million domestic water buffalo exist, and more people depend on them than on any other domestic animal. The animals spend their lives working in agricultural fields in the remote parts or South Asia and are a prized resource for villagers who depend on agriculture to survive. When they die, nothing goes to waste! Everything from the meat and hides, to the bones and horns are used for something. Thus, the sale of the horns provide an income for a great many people. As a designer and as a producer, I believe I have a duty to the next generation, to do my part in contributing to sustainable living. It brings me great pleasure to create with this material.

BESPOKE/CUSTOM JEWELRY fee structure Consultation and Design Development We invite you to schedule a brief call to share your ideas and see if we’re the right fit for your vision. This initial conversation is complementary and helps us understand what you’re looking for before we begin the creative process. To move forward, a non-refundable Design Development Fee of TT $700 / US $110 per design is required before design work begins. This fee allows us to begin developing your concept. Once you proceed with production, this amount is credited toward your final purchase. Complex projects, such as heavily detailed or sculptural designs, may incur additional design fees, determined on a case-by-case basis. Because each piece begins with a design exploration stage (including sketches, refinement, and the consideration of multiple design directions before moving into the 3D model) a quotation can only be provided once the design has been decided on and the 3D model is built. If, at any stage, you wish to pursue an entirely new concept, an additional Design Development Fee will apply. Production To begin production, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the finished price, as quoted upon completion of the 3D model, is required. • FAQ's Lab-grown Diamonds | shop-josannemark

Lab-grown Diamonds What do you know about them? Frequently Asked Questions Sustainability in Action What are lab-grown diamonds? Lab-grown diamonds are diamonds grown in a controlled laboratory environment. Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds? Yes, lab-grown diamonds are REAL diamonds! Both grown and mined diamonds are pure crystallized carbon with the exact chemical, physical, and optical properties. Being made-up of the identical material, both grown and mined diamonds are graded on the same scale; using the 4 C's - Carat (i.e. weight) Clarity, Color and Cut. The SOLE difference between lab-grown diamonds and earth-mined diamonds is their point of origin (i.e. where they came from); one is grown in a lab, while the other is extracted from the earth. Here's an analogy we love to use! Ice is formed in nature when water vapor or liquid water becomes solid by freezing at temperatures below 0 °C. Ice is also formed by placing liquid water into your freezer where the temperature is below 0 °C. Now, would you say that ice from your freezer is fake, imitation ice while ice formed in nature is real ice? We bet you wouldn't! Just as in this case, ice is ice, so too diamond is diamond. If lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, why is it important to differentiate them? In short, it is a matter of integrity, which is important for your protection. "In the United States, the Federal Trade Commission requires that any gem material produced in a laboratory be described in a way that leaves no doubt that it was not produced naturally. It is considered to be a deceptive practice if a synthetic gem material’s origin is not clearly disclosed throughout the distribution channel at the time of sale, from the manufacturer to the consumer". |source: https://www.gia.edu/gem-synthetic | We know It's easy to feel lost and confused as you'll often find a myriad of synonymous descriptions for lab-grown diamonds; such as, created diamonds, grown diamonds, above ground diamonds, cultured diamonds, man-made diamonds, manufactured diamonds, simulated diamonds and synthetic diamonds. If you need guidance, don't hesitate to contact us. We're always happy to help. How are lab-grown diamonds made? Currently, there are two processes through which lab-grown diamonds are made; CVD (chemical vapor deposition) and HPHT (high pressure, high temperature). With the CVD technique, a tiny slice of either natural or lab-created diamond (called a seed) is put into a plasma reactor chamber where a mix of carbon-rich gasses are added at very low pressure. Microwaves are then introduced to heat the gasses and generate plasma. As the temperature climbs over several thousand degrees, the gas molecules break apart, making way for carbon atoms to bond to the seed one layer at a time. HPHT (the more commonly used technique), mimics the conditions under which diamonds are formed in the earth's crust. The seed is placed in a high-pressure mechanical press under extreme temperatures. The seed acts as a guide for the lattice of carbon (that will soon become the diamond) to grow layer by layer within a matter of days until the desired carat weight is achieved. Why were lab-grown diamonds created in the first place? Their production was marked by a need for them in industrial applications outside of the jewelry industry such as in the making of abrasive powders. The first gem quality diamond was created in 1954 by General Electric under a project codenamed “Project Superpressure.” Should I invest in a lab-grown diamond over a mined diamond? Depending on who you ask, you'll get different opinions on this. I must say, thank you for asking us! We pride ourselves in being as unbiased as possible as we think such a decision should be entirely one of personal choice. However, we will point you to the facts you'll need to make an informed choice. Point #1 Economies of scale: A laboratory-grown diamond of the same grade as an earth-mined diamond will cost you less. Why? Firstly, because a lab-grown diamond lacks intrinsic rarity. Simply put, lab diamonds can be produced within a matter of weeks and as a result, they can be produced in volume while it takes at least 1 billion years for a diamond to be formed in the earth's crust. Secondly, production cost! While it does cost money to grow diamonds, the cost to mine them is significantly higher; as such, the cost of natural diamonds to you, the consumer, is also higher. Point #2 Environmental and social impact: 250 tonnes of soil must be dug from the earth to produce 1 carat of gem-quality diamond. Irresponsible diamond mining has caused entire ecosystems to collapse as rivers have been drained and/or diverted in the pursuit of diamond ore. The mining industry has been plagued with human rights violations from killings to sexual violence and war crimes. The laboratory process of growing diamonds compares favorably to that of mined diamonds as it does not involve the destruction of the earth nor does it carry a negative social impact. Point #3 Resale value and perceived value: The resale value of a lab-grown diamond is uncertain as compared to that of a natural diamond as natural diamonds have retained their value over centuries. Then, there is perception-based value, which should always be considered especially when purchasing an engagement ring or an important gift. If you are unsure about whether your wife-to-be or your giftee will be accepting of a lab-created diamond, you may want to err on the side of caution and opt for natural diamonds. How can I tell if a diamond is lab-grown or natural? A lab-grown diamond can only be identified by a gemologist using expensive laboratory equipment. Even a trained gemologist cannot identify a lab-grown diamond just through examination under a microscope. However, an easy way of identifying a lab-grown diamond is by looking at the diamond under a microscope for the laser inscription "lab-grown". Only certified diamonds are inscribed. It will be very difficult to locate the inscription when the stone is set in a piece of jewelry as it may be covered by metal.

It is tailored to the client’s unique vision, requirements, and preferences; including specific materials, gemstones, proportions, fit, and symbolism. The resulting design is original, and represents the highest level of personalized craftsmanship. A custom-made item is based on an existing design from the Seller’s standard collection, adapted with personalized modifications, such as changing the gemstones, metal, or layout to suit the client’s preferences. While tailored, the underlying design is not unique and may be adapted for other clients. Bespoke and custom-made items (hereafter referred to as item/s) ordered through Josanne Mark Ltd. (hereafter referred to as the Seller) are subject to the following conditions: Consultation and Design Development: 1. The consultation and design development process includes the complete creation of your bespoke design. This covers the selection of materials and gemstones, and the development of a detailed 3D CAD model of the piece. 2. From these conversations, initial design sketches are produced, from which you’ll choose a design to be developed into the final 3D digital rendering. 3. A non-refundable consultation and design development fee of TT $700 / US $110 per design is required at the start of the consultation, payable via online bank transfer, or credit card (for international clients). This fee will be credited towards your final purchase , provided we proceed with that specific design. During the process, should you desire to pursue a design idea that is different from the original concept, an additional consultation and design development fee shall be incurred for the new design. A single consultation and design development fee will be applied to the final purchase; any prior fees paid for alternate or discarded designs will not be credited. For particularly complex design projects such as heavily detailed/sculptural designs, additional design development fees may apply on a case-by-case basis. We reserve the right to waive consultation and design development fees at our discretion. Quotation & Payment 4. A formal quotation can only be provided when the 3D design model has been completed. Quotations will reflect the approved design in a range of metal and/or gemstone grade options. 5. Payment of a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the finished price, as quoted upon completion of the 3D model, is required to begin production 6. All quotations are based on the current market cost of materials and resources at the time of pricing. The quoted price is guaranteed only within the stated validity period . 8. Production will commence only after the required deposit has been received. If the quote expires before payment is made, a revised quotation reflecting any changes in material costs will be issued. This updated quote must be reviewed and approved before moving forward. 9. Due to the time, resources and skills required to make item/s, in the event of a non-completed sale the client agrees that the non-refundable paid deposit will be used in its entirety by the Seller to recover the costs associated with the making of the client’s ordered item/s. 10. The payment of a deposit is an agreement between the Seller and the client to make and provide the item/s as per the agreed job brief. 11. However, if a requested element was clearly documented during the design process and is not reasonably represented in the final piece, the Seller will cover the cost of making the necessary correction. 16. The Seller agrees to take all reasonable care when handling client-supplied gemstones, including documenting their condition prior to setting. However, due to the inherent risks involved in working with materials not sourced by the Seller, the client accepts full responsibility for any damage, breakage, or loss that may occur during handling, un-setting, or resetting. Should the client require full non-disclosure regarding the design itself, thereby prohibiting the Seller from sharing images or video publicly, a formal NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) must be requested and mutually agreed upon in writing prior to payment of the non-refundable deposit. Such arrangements will incur an additional fee to compensate for the loss of promotional value. 24. If the client wishes to keep a design confidential until a specific date (such as for a proposal, gift reveal, or other private moment) this must be communicated in writing before the commencement of production. A formal limited-use confidentiality agreement may be executed. 25. Given the intensive nature of bespoke craftsmanship, the Seller reserves the right to decline or discontinue an order if the client breaches any of the terms or intent of this agreement. 26. • Jewelry care|Josanne Mark ltd. Trinidad and Tobago

Learn how to care for your jewelry with expert tips from Josanne Mark. Preserve the beauty, brilliance, and longevity of your treasured pieces. Your Guide To Jewelry Care We are : committed to creating jewelry that can be passed down from generation to generation. Since 2005, we have established and maintained the highest standards in design, materials and craftsmanship. With some simple, basic care, you can help preserve and protect your jewelry for years to come. Here are some guidelines to follow: We recommend that you: Store your pieces separately in soft pouches or in an enclosed lined jewelry box to prevent scratches and tarnishing and to keep your pieces looking brand new. We advise against: Swimming, showering, sleeping or exercising while wearing jewelry. Exposing jewelry to cleaning agents or cosmetics such as foundations, perfumes, hairsprays. Exposing jewelry to excessive heat or prolonged periods of direct sunlight. Use of commercial silver ‘dip’ solutions as they are unsuitable for cleaning oxidised, stone-set, pearl or plated jewelry and can cause surface deterioration. Wearing delicate and plated jewelry on more than an occasional basis. Pieces made solely of Silver are suitable for everyday wear. It can be cleaned with a silver cleaning cloth. More difficult or stubborn tarnishing may require professional cleaning. Our Sterling silver pieces offer tarnish-resistance. Depending on the design and production method, tarnish resistance may be achieved through a tarnish-resistant silver alloy or through rhodium plating as a protective precious-metal finish. Matte-finish silver is suitable for everyday wear. The use of a polishing cloth is unsuitable for matte finish jewelry. It is recommended to wash matte silver with warm soapy water, rinse and pat dry or apply a paste made from bicarbonate of soda and water. Rub the paste on the jewelry piece, allow it to sit for a couple of minutes, then rinse in water. Oxidised silver is suitable for everyday wear. It is best to clean oxidised silver with a soft cotton cloth or wash with warm soapy water, rinse and pat dry. Do not polish with a silver cleaning cloth or the finish could be removed. Do not use silver dip as this can also remove the oxidation. Swarovski Crystal is suitable for everyday wear but the wearer should be mindful of its fragility. Avoid directly touching the crystals as oil and moisture on your fingers leave unattractive fingerprints that dull the sparkle of your crystals. Take special care in handling crystal jewelry as it could chip or scratch if it is dropped on a hard surface. Clean after each wear. Wash with warm soapy water (dish washing liquid is recommended) rinse and dry with a soft cotton cloth. Pearls are suitable for occasional wear only. Direct exposure to cosmetics and cleaning agents may affect the lustre and colour of the pearl. They should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth Gold plated pieces; including Vermeil, Heavy Gold Plate and Dipped Leaves are suitable for occasional wear only. Wash with warm soapy water, rinse and pat dry. Do not rub vigorously or the plating could be removed. Dipped leaves: Real leaves are dried and preserved (Dipped) in a light layer of precious metal (24k Gold, Fine silver or oxidized fine silver) This design is, by nature, delicate and should be handled with extra care as it can break far easier when compared to metal pieces. Gold Fill is suitable for everyday wear. Gold Fill consists of an actual layer of Karat Gold bonded to a base metal core and it can be worn and treated in the same way you would your 14k and 18k Gold. It can be cleaned using commercially bought dips or cleaning solutions and polishing cloths. Exotic Wood, Horn and Bone is suitable for occasional wear only. The piece should never fall or knock on hard surfaces because they can be chipped, cracked or destroyed. They should not be exposed to moisture or excessive heat. Wooden Pieces are treated with natural oils and should not be left in a dry or humid area because there is a chance that the wood will crack. Please use a pure beeswax polishing compound, olive oil, or coconut oil to maintain the wood.
